It features more doglegs and lay-ups

The Walnut Creek Course is the longer, but easier, of the two courses. The Walnut Creek Course also features enough variety of terrain to challenge the most experienced golfer. Water hazards come into play on several holes, making the Walnut Creek Course a very scenic course. The signature hole is #16, a 372-yard, par 4, featuring an hourglass-shaped green.
The Walnut Creek Golf Course, Walnut Creek Course measures 6,880 yards from the back tees. The course is a par-72 layout. The course rating is 72.1 with a slope rating of 121. With the elevation changes it does play quite difficult when you play it all of the way back. The longest hole is # 11 with a 620 yard par 5, but it plays mostly down hill. The Walnut Creek Course is more forgiving than Club Run Course so that if you spray the ball a little you will not lose as many strokes or balls. Most players will shoot about 3 strokes higher on the Club Run Course than on the Walnut Creek Course.

Traveling down to Indy on I-69 and allowed myself time (3.5hrs)for a quick 18 w/cart at the $20 Senior Wednesday special price before the locals got out. Having a nice clear morning with great conditions from tee's, to greens rolling between 7-9 depending on angle to sun, made it a great morning. All greens were soft and received/held shots all the way down to my 5 iron. Mix of trees that divide the average width fairways that has thick rough about 5yds from fairway and then it thins out. One stream winds through the course with many ponds that are placed to keep you from getting too relaxed. Watch out for #9 tee shot as the landing area has a hidden pond on the RH side of the fairway as I missed it by 2 feet. Mostly straight away holes that you can visualize how you want to play them and missing where the trees aren't is helpful. Shot a clean 40/40 w/32putts from the Blacks @ 6,907 / 72.1 / 121 slope that is a nice smooth rolling layout with very few traps that will cause you problems. Worth the stop because if its busy, drive 300yds further and the Club Run course will most likely be open, ready to go. (You pay for Club Run at the Walnut course most of the time)
